Staffs & Workers Union of Hong Kong Civil Airlines was founded on 11th November 1949 with than 60-year history. The founding core members, who had been participating in the “Civil Aviation Uprising” and help the establishment of new China, gathered many workers together to fight for the rights and benefits for the workers wholeheartedly as well as concerning for their living. Besides, they also organize different kinds of welfare, educational service and recreation activities for the workers. The union provides greatest support to the workers. After a long time, the union still works diligently as it did in the past.
In the new era, we are facing more intense competition as globalization and transformation of the world economy causes. Some companies try to cut the cost and many workers are always exploited or unfairly treated. The union will continually provide legal advice and assistance to the affected workers. Apart from that, the union also provides study courses to workers to enhance their competitiveness, in order to strive and safeguard all the workers’ rights.
The Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions Youth Affairs Committee (FTUYAC), established in 70s, is one of the permanent committee members of Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions (FTU) and the members of the committee are the young leaders from different industries.
FTUYAC is responsible for setting the policies of the work of the youth, educating the young people and developing the unions. There are about 3,000 volunteers in the sub-committees including Youth Intelligence, FTU Volunteer Group、FTU Community Caring Unit. Every year, FTUYAC holds much needed training like workshops, team disciplines, youth leadership training etc for volunteers. Besides, FTUYAC also holds healthy leisure activities like planting trees, quiz competition, city tracing, The Hong Kong International Airport Feet of Fire 10 km, crowd control of the big events, study tours etc. Apart from that, we also actively communicate and cooperate with other youth organizations to find out the common goals and policies of the work of the local youth. What’s more, we strive to provide a platform for youth development, helping them to develop positive attitudes, visions and commitment and values.
